How Our Fees Work
Divorce is difficult enough without the added stress of unpredictable costs. Here is how the fees are structured, so you can focus on making thoughtful decisions instead of worrying about hidden charges.
Initial Consultation
Your first consultation is a dedicated time to talk through your situation in a supportive, low pressure setting. We use it to understand your priorities, answer your questions, and explain how mediation works.
Ongoing Mediation Sessions
Sessions after the initial consultation are billed hourly, and how many you need depends on the complexity of your situation. The aim is to help you move forward efficiently and thoughtfully, without unnecessary time or cost.
Sharing the Cost
Most couples choose to share the mediation fees equally, which helps keep the process balanced and fair. Arrangements stay flexible and can be adjusted to your circumstances.

Ridgway Divorce Mediation: Common Questions
Can we mediate by video?
Yes. Sessions are often held by video, so couples in Ridgway and the rest of the Western Slope can take part from home, even when you now live in different places.
What does divorce mediation cost in Ridgway?
Cost mostly depends on how many sessions you need, which depends on how many issues are still open. The estimator above gives a rough range, our fees page explains how billing works, and your free case review is the place to get a figure for your situation.
Can we mediate if our case is filed in Ouray County?
In many cases, yes. Couples often mediate after a case has been filed. Your mediator can tell you how mediation would fit alongside your court schedule.
Can mediation help us build a parenting plan?
Yes. Parenting schedules, holidays, school decisions and support can all be worked through in mediation. Your mediator can walk you through how the guidelines tend to apply to your family.
Do we have to agree on everything before we start?
No. Most couples start with open questions about the house, finances or parenting. Working through those is what mediation is for. What matters most is that both of you are willing to take part.

Marita Robinson
Ridgway, CO Mediator, Resolvium Mediation Group
I’m Marita Robinson, a mediator, attorney, and mother dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the transition of divorce with compassion, clarity, and dignity. I combine my personal insight and professional experience to create a safe, supportive environment where you can find resolution and move forward with confidence.
Having witnessed firsthand how overwhelming and adversarial the traditional legal system can be, I am passionate about offering a healthier alternative through mediation. Divorce mediation is a collaborative and cost-effective process that empowers couples to make informed, values-based decisions about parenting, property, and their future. My role is to guide you through that process with respect, neutrality, and care.
After earning my degree in psychology and serving in the Peace Corps, I attended CUNY School of Law because of its strong commitment to public service and human-centered advocacy. Over my career, I’ve worked as a public defender, tribal court judge, in-house counsel for local government, and as a child welfare and family law attorney and mediator. These experiences have deepened my belief that mediation not only resolves conflict, it can also foster healing, understanding, and lasting peace for families.
I take a trauma-informed, client-centered approach to mediation, meeting each person where they are and helping them craft solutions that truly fit their family’s unique needs.
Originally from northeastern Kansas, I now live with my son in the beautiful Uncompahgre River valley, where I enjoy yoga, running, gardening, reading, and exploring new trails in the high country. It would be my honor to help you create a resolution that supports your well-being and your family’s future.
