Rendi G. Alexander

Mediator, Resolvium Mediation Group

Major Rendi G. Alexander brings a wealth of legal, leadership, and mediation experience to Resolvium. Currently serving as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force, Major Alexander provides legal support to commanders and personnel at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, representing a population of more than 24,000. She has also deployed multiple times to the Middle East as both a Combat Systems Officer and Judge Advocate, advising senior leaders on critical operational and legal matters.
 
Rendi’s career spans nearly two decades of military service, beginning as a Dental Laboratory Technician before transitioning into aviation as a Flight Engineer and C-130 Combat Systems Officer. After earning her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law, she was directly commissioned as a Judge Advocate in 2019. She has since served as Chief of Legal Assistance, Civil Law, Military Justice, Operations Law, and Director of Legal Operations. She is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the United States Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.
 
Her academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science in Adult Education and Training (Southern Illinois University), a Juris Doctor (Georgia State University), and a forthcoming Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Government Procurement from The George Washington University, where she is completing the program with highest honors.

Divorce Mediation in the District

DC divorces are heard by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, Family Court, Domestic Relations Branch, at the H. Carl Moultrie Courthouse, 500 Indiana Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20001. That branch handles divorce, legal separation, custody, visitation and adoptions for the whole District.

The District is one jurisdiction with one busy Family Court calendar, which changes the arithmetic of mediation. Getting a contested matter in front of a judge takes time. Reaching an agreement does not have to. Couples who mediate first arrive at the Moultrie Courthouse with the parenting plan and the property division already written, and the filing becomes administrative. Court rules and local practice change, so confirm current requirements with the court or your attorney.
