Gerard Haskins
With over two decades of combined experience as an attorney and Special Education teacher in New York City, I bring a unique blend of legal expertise and compassionate advocacy to my mediation practice.
My journey into mediation began during my time at Fordham University School of Law, where I contributed to the development of the Fundamental Lawyering Skills course, a cornerstone for students pursuing clinical education. Additionally, I had the privilege of studying Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Ireland and Northern Ireland, applying my skills to analyze and address complex conflicts rooted in the region’s history.
Following my legal education, I transitioned to public service as a Special Education Teacher in New York City, where I spent nearly a decade advocating for students from diverse communities facing socio-economic challenges. My legal background, particularly in education law, enabled me to ensure that students received the services guaranteed under the Free and Appropriate Education Act and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act.
In my legal practice, I have represented clients across a broad spectrum of areas, including family law, criminal law, elder law, and estate planning. This diverse experience provides me with a well-rounded perspective, enabling me to craft tailored, strategic solutions for my clients.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I have a passion for advocacy that extends into various aspects of life. I am a dedicated participant in combat sports, having competed in numerous Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournaments and previously trained as a professional wrestler. My creative side shines through my passion for music, where I co-own a full-service multimedia company based in Chicago, IL.
Today, I am deeply committed to providing compassionate, individualized service to help clients navigate matrimonial disputes and other legal challenges. Whether in the courtroom, classroom, or mediation room, I strive to combine empathy, advocacy, and expertise to achieve meaningful resolutions.
Let’s work together toward a peaceful resolution.
